This past weekend Adrenaline played host to the first ever Impact Camp held in Vegas, Nevada for the Vegas Starz program. The 3-day event was highlighted by on field individual positional skills, small group uneven stations, and team offense and defense, as well as off field chalk talks on topics such as proper nutrition & hydration, visualization & goal setting, and playing lacrosse at the next level. Adrenaline Training Director Jesse Foss led the charge with high profiled coaches such as Adrenaline Athlete Peter Baum (Ohio Machine) and Henry Schoonmaker (Bayhawks) by his side to run drills and share their knowledge. Each player left camp with a impact binder full of valuable information. Among the incredible talent that was displayed throughout the weekend, below is a list of this year’s standouts:

Lake Baker, Midfield (FO), 2021

Big, strong athlete that has only been playing for a few seasons.  Was able to dominate the Face Off X against older players and made good decisions with the ball in his stick.  Lake was always on the field and was solid on offense and defense to go along with his dominance at the X.

Amani T. El-Nawal, Defense, 2021

Amani is another big, fast athlete with an amazing amount of potential.  He was aggressive on defense and confident enough to push the ball on offense.  He will need to become a little more consistent with his effort on the field if he wants to fulfill his potential.

Cole Green, Attack, 2020

Cole is probably the most skilled player in the middle school division.  He has a consistent shot from time & room and makes good decisions with the ball.  Would like to see him be a little more of an initiator and create team offense from his dodge.

Matt Topham, Goalie, 2020

Matt was one of the most improved players in the middle school division.  He has good size and did a great job holding on shots and not guessing.  He seemed very comfortable in the cage and played his angles well.  He will need to work on his clearing and communication but I saw great things from him this weekend.

Colin Stumher, Midfield, 2020

Colin is a big, strong right handed power dodger.  He was able to beat his man every time and did a good job knowing when to shoot and when to pass.  Colin dodges with his heads up and made several smart feeds from the double.  He did an excellent job on defense as well.  Would love to see him work on his off-hand and become even more of an offensive threat.

Luke Longley, Midfield, 2020

Luke is an athletic two-way midfielder.  Throughout the weekend he impressed with his effort and ability to do a little of everything.  He is a lock-down on ball defender on defense and a dodging/shooting threat on offense.  Luke had an impressive 80 mile an hour shot!

Brandon Paige, Attack, 2019

Has the size and speed to get top side from the low wing almost at will.  He has an explosive first step and is willing to run through a check or slide to get to a shooting spot.  He was recently converted from midfield to attack.  As he gets more comfortable behind and expands his arsenal of dodges he will be a very dangerous player.

Ben Gorelick, Defense (LSM), 2019

In the scrimmages that I watched Ben played with a fierce tenacity chasing down midfielders and causing turnovers.  He has solid footwork and was able to get the ball off the floor and up-field in transition.

AJ Walker, Defense, 2018

AJ is a fundamentally solid defenseman.  On ball, he has great footwork on the approach and played smart angles.  Off ball, he was a vocal communicator, had well-times slides, and got his stick up in the passing lanes.  Nothing flashy to his game but does everything right and is exactly what you want from a close defenseman.

Trent Pernell, Midfield, 2018

Trent is coming back from an injury and looked to be getting back to his former self.  He has soft hands and is competent with both hands.  He has an arsenal of secondary dodges if he doesn’t beat you on the first move.

Tanner Prince, Attack/Midfield, 2016

He is a player that can be used anywhere on the field and will give you 100% every time.  Defensively, when he was locked on to a dodger he was tenacious and caused multiple turnovers.  Offensively, he has an explosive first step and a hard shot.

Nick Wendell, Midfield, 2016

Nick is a complete two-way midfielder.  He can do a little of everything and does it all well.  A big, strong athlete that can be a shut-down defender but also polished enough to be a huge threat on offense.  Nick has a great split and shot on the run with a consistent bounce shot.

Brad Simoncelli, Attack/Midfield, 2016

Brad is a tall, lanky converted midfielder. He has a powerful shot on the run and when set.  Shoots mostly side arm or ¾ but has good velocity and a quick release.  Brad uses his frame well to hide his stick when shooting on the run and is a tough match up because of his height and speed.

Justin Huber, Defense, 2016

Justin is an outstanding defenseman or long stick midfielder.  On ball, he has the speed and quickness to stay with any dodger.  Off ball, he has great anticipation on the ball and came up with several pick offs in the scrimmage.  He is well respected by his teammates and a leader on the defensive end.
